Since the start of the COVID pandemic, we have been using a community-based model for our children’s ministry.
The program, termed “Church in the Garage,” promotes the elements of our church mission statement, and allows children to develop their own associations with “church” as a safe, secure, and joyous experience within their own community.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Church in the Garage follows a Vacation Bible School (VBS) model with a variety of weekly activities:
Mission activity for others — i.e. creating hygiene bags, school supplies bags, and lunches for those in need
Bible Lesson — academic, God-centered session on particular areas of focus, i.e. Disciples, Composition of the Bible, Christmas around the World, etc. (Each unit covers 8-10 weeks and includes a student-created take-home reference notebook)
Music — hymns, singalongs, hand bells, etc.
Fellowship — snack time, other special Fun Days, supervised free play
