CONNECT AND SERVE
The Connection UMC Book Club meets the second Monday of each month at 1pm, in the Gathering Room (blue), also known as the McDonough Room.
It is the room on the right, as you enter the church.
We read fiction books selected by the group. The group plans 5 books at a time. Our leaders are different ones that volunteer.
Join us, as we discuss, learn and share.
MINISTRY & FELLOWSHIP
Caring Partners
Each month a group of Connection UMC family ministers to our homebound. The ministry began several years ago then added the delivery of gift bags during COVID. Each bag is filled with small snacks, puzzles and other items that help them connect to our Lord and to us. As our coordinator has said, "An effort by all, to pass on love". We thank all of you for reaching out to our homebound.
FELLOWSHIP & MISSION
HICKMAN ELEMENTARY
We have an on-going partnership with Hickman Elementary, a school less than a mile from our campus. We check-in frequently about any needs they might have and we strive to share our resources well.
In the past, we have provided teachers and staff with coffee from Caliber Coffee Co., held supply drives, and collected snack bags for children in need.
Look for ways to engage in this partnership on our social media pages or in our weekly newsletter!
MISSION
LAUNCH PAD
All youth deserve a street-free sleep.
Launch Pad is a ‘street free sleep’ initiative, fueled by a collective of concerned citizens within the LGBTQ and allied community, which strives to provide open and affirming safer sleeping shelters for homeless youth in Davidson County.
We are a partner with Launch Pad by providing volunteers, hosting youth, and supporting financially.
Ministry
Free Lunches
Mon - Thurs
9am-Noon
Monday through Thursday sack lunches are placed outside the church's main door for anyone who is in need. The lunches are prepared by a youth group. Donations for the lunches help put this in needed hands.
MISSION
SECOND HARVEST
"People in every community face the risk of going hungry." — Jaynee Day, President and CEO of Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee.
In partnership with Second Harvest and other community groups, we host an annual Thanksgiving Box Distribution Event in our parking lot for people in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
Connection UMC particpates as volunteers, once a month at Second Harvest in Donelson. It is located in the Saint Phillip's Episcopal Church.
Would you like to donate nonperishable items to Second Harvest? We have a basket in our entryway for this purpose. Our monthly volunteers will deliver it to Second Harvest.
Thanks to those who donated and volunteered for this important event in November!
